A new season of infections is here, but the shortage of a common kids’ antibiotic never ended

The amoxicillin drug shortage has been ongoing since fall of 2022. It has impacted the care of our nation's children for almost a year now. As we continue to move into the 2023 fall flu and rsv season, patients will continue to be impacted. Amoxicillin is a first-line treatment for symptoms of sinus and chest infections, earaches, and strep throat. According to US Pharmacopeia, antibiotics like amoxicillin are at 42% greater risk of being in shortage than any other drug.

We can and we must do more to end drug shortages. Like, comment and share to spread awareness so amoxicillin and other essential medicines never linger under any radar. The time is now to join the race to end drug shortages.
