Angels for Change and Project GOLD highlighted in CNN article about the current Leucovorin Drug Shortage in the U.S.

Leucovorin prescriptions surged after the White House touted the drug for autism. Parents are still scrambling to find it

The drug shortage crisis is making national headlines again—but for patients and families, it is a daily reality.

A new article from CNN highlights families scrambling to find leucovorin as supply struggles to keep up with demand. At Angels for Change, we saw the warning signs early—and took action through Project GOLD, our program dedicated to locating and distributing scarce medications so patients can get the treatments they depend on.

Because when the system fails, patients shouldn’t be left to navigate shortages alone.

As our founder Laura Bray shared in the article:

“This was completely predictable, that this would happen. The steps that needed to happen so this wouldn’t happen were also knowable.”
— Laura Bray, Founder & Chief Change Maker, Angels for Change

Laura notes that if a small nonprofit like Angels for Change could see the shortage coming and take steps to help patients through Project GOLD, our healthcare system should be able to do the same.

Through Project GOLD, Angels for Change works across the supply chain to identify available inventory, connect providers, and help patients access critical medicines during shortages—because no one should have to fight for the medication they rely on.
