Senate Passes NDAA with Key MAPS Act Provisions to Strengthen Drug Supply

Angels for Change is proud to celebrate an important bipartisan milestone in the fight to end drug shortages. The U.S. Senate has passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes critical provisions from the Mitigating America’s Pharmaceutical Shortages (MAPS) Act—legislation designed to strengthen transparency and coordination across the drug supply chain.

This progress was made possible through the leadership of Senators Gary Peters (D-MI), James Lankford (R-OK), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Angus King (I-ME), and Rick Scott (R-FL), who came together across party lines to safeguard access to essential medicines for patients nationwide.

“Angels for Change proudly supports the MAPS Act—a vital step toward ending drug shortages and protecting patients,” said Laura Bray, Founder and Chief Change Maker of Angels for Change. “This bipartisan legislation will strengthen transparency and coordination across the entire drug supply chain, helping to detect and prevent disruptions before they impact care. Building the reliable supply chain patients deserve will require collaboration across government and industry.”

As the bill now moves to the House of Representatives, Angels for Change encourages continued bipartisan momentum to advance these critical reforms. Together, we can deliver on our shared vision of a future free from drug shortages.

Thank you to all the Senate leaders and partners who continue to prioritize patient access and supply chain resilience.
