Angels for Change — 2025 Year in Review
From supporting patients through dozens of different shortage crises to launching a first-of-its-kind oncology resiliency program to shaping national policy conversations, 2025 was a year of bold action and patient-driven progress.
Together with partners across healthcare, government, and industry, we:
Protected patients during critical drug shortages
Launched Project GOLD to proactively safeguard cancer care
Protected 4 additional essential medicines for the American people with Project PROTECT
Elevated patient voices in policy and supply chain reform
Built momentum toward a more resilient medicine supply system
See how collaboration, transparency, and patient leadership are driving lasting change:
Recognizing Leadership in Action
We proudly presented our Drug Shortage Guardian Awards to federal partners including ASPR, DHS, FDA Drug Shortage Staff, and GSA for their extraordinary efforts to protect patients during critical shortage events.
At our Champions for Change Gala, we honored Vimala Raghavendran (USP) as Change Maker of the Year for advancing transparency through the Medicine Supply Map. Executive Champions Club Award winners Terri Lyle Wilson, Scott Miller, and Eric Edwards (not pictured) were recognized for their leadership in raising awareness and funds to combat critical drug shortages. Impact Award winners LaQuan and Camille Taylor, were recognized for their courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our mission of ending drug shortages.
A Major Milestone: Project GOLD
One of our most impactful achievements was the launch of Project GOLD (Generic Oncology Lifesaving Drugs) — a first-of-its-kind resiliency initiative designed to safeguard cancer patients from disruptive drug shortages.
With founding partners McKesson, Cencora, and Fresenius Kabi USA, Project GOLD establishes proactive buffer inventory and stronger coordination to help ensure continuity of care when patients need it most. When leucovorin supply was disrupted, Project GOLD delivered 100% patient access nationwide.
Elevating the Patient Voice
Throughout the year, Angels for Change brought patient-centered insights to national and global forums — from Brookings and the Milken Institute to FDA, ASPR, USP, and our own SummitONE — reinforcing that shortages are both a healthcare access and policy crisis.
Project PROTECT Expands
In 2025, we protected 4 additional essential medicines for the American people with Project PROTECT. STAQ Pharma, Fagron Sterile Services US, and Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company have each received 2025 Project PROTECT grants to proactively manufacture critical medications at risk of shortage. Together, these partners are helping prevent shortages before they happen—ensuring patients have access to lifesaving treatment when it matters most.
Advocacy that Moves Policy
In 2025, A4C advanced bipartisan solutions, including the MAPS Act, while providing insights to Congress, collaborating with USP, Duke Margolis, and EDSA policy work, elevating patient stories to strengthen transparency, access, and long-term prevention.
Community & Collaboration
From SummitONE at host McKesson HQ to Swim2End Shortages to the National Childhood Cancer Convening and our annual Gala, we continued building a growing movement united around one goal: ending drug shortages for ALL patients.
Looking Ahead to 2026
With Project GOLD underway and our partnerships and programs accelerating, we’re elevating resiliency solutions, strengthening policy frameworks, and continuing to unite the healthcare ecosystem behind reliable access to essential medicines for patients. None of these milestones happen in isolation. Together with you, our Change Maker community, we celebrate the progress of 2025 and move forward with purpose.
